Today, there are so many skin care and hair care products while new products keep appearing in the market over a certain period. Most of the time, after a brand is active in the market for 2 or 3 years, you may notice that according to some reports, some kind of harmful ingredient, such as carcinogen, is found in some products of some brands. It is time for us to think about whether we are the victims of branding effects or whether we are not smart in enough when choosing products.

For the sake of the quality of our life, we need to become a wellness aware consumer. We have to beware whether the products we buy are safe for the environment and ourselves.

-Check words and claims which appear in product advertisements, articles, and promotions.

-Check for quality and safety certifications from internationally approved organizations.

-Watch out for harmful chemicals, addictive, preservatives and carcinogen.

-Read the manufacture date, ingredients and nutritional facts.

-Do some background check on company background of the product brand.

-Pay attention to the latest research about different products and chemicals like carcinogen.

-Do not believe everything product advertisements claims. Everything should be supported by scientific proof.

染髮安全嗎?

市面上的染髮產品種類繁多，除了顏色、包裝、 品牌和價錢之外，會否有其他因素去考慮呢? 有朋友會關心的是染髮劑有否含有害的致癌物質，他們會選擇不含阿摩尼亞的染髮劑。 但不含阿摩尼亞的染髮劑是否表示安全呢?

阿摩尼亞是什麼?

• 在染髮劑的作用是製造鹼性的環境
• 有強烈的氣味，可刺激呼吸系統
• 染髮劑不含阿摩尼亞，看似會減少刺激性，但一般會用乙醇胺替代，而乙醇胺也是刺激物質，雖然氣味沒有阿摩尼亞強烈，但有毒性，如用量較多，仍可能對健康構成威脅

除此之外， 一般染髮劑都含有苯二胺(p-Phenylene diamine﹐即PPD)、阿摩尼亞(Ammonia)、雙氧水(Hydrogen peroxide)﹐還有具殺傷力的乙醇胺(ethanolamine)和對位甲苯二胺(toluene diamine﹐簡稱PTD)。這些物質是能引起皮膚過敏反應和多種疾病的有害物質，有小部份人更會有可能引起過敏性皮炎，而長期使用會可能引致癌症。

那怎麼辦?? 難道要完全不染髮??

• 盡量減少染髮的次數，最好最多1個月一次，染完後應及時洗頭，以免頭皮累積藥物
• 染髮或燙髮最好只處理頭髮中、尾段部分，減少頭皮對藥物的吸收
• 染髮前一定要做皮膚測試，確定沒有過敏反應，才試用該產品。測試時把染劑抹在手上或耳朵後面，觀察最少1天，留意有沒有紅腫等不良反應出現
• 如果要染髮，最好改用無副作用的天然染髮劑，這是防止染髮劑副作用的最有效方法

市面上出售的天然染髮劑，大多數的染料是從植物提煉出來。當中的天然染髮劑較多人知道的是海靈草。海靈草是天然的染髮成份，不傷頭皮，除了為髮絲外層締造一層保濕護髮膜，同時顯現自然的顏色， 不損髮梢表層，並且強壯髮根，讓秀髮更見光亮豐盈。

市面上大部分可買到的海靈草都屬粉狀， 需要用家自己去調教份量或額外需要其他材料配合。
